How is breast cancer risk inherited?

People in families with a significant family history of breast cancer may be at increased risk of developing breast cancer and sometimes other cancers too.

In some families, this is due to faulty genes running in the family that make it more likely that a breast cancer will develop.

Breast Cancer Now is the UK’s largest breast cancer charity, created by the merger of Breast Cancer Campaign and Breakthrough Breast Cancer
